During the executive council meeting in June 2024, the WMO accepted the inclusion of reanalyses into its manual for integrated processing standards. The standards for a Climate Reanalysis are now outlined in the Manual on the WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System (WMO-No. 485), WIPPS.

NASA’s Modern Era Reanalysis for Research and Applications, version 2 (MERRA-2) satisfies the production and dissemination conditions for a WMO designated Global Climate Reanalysis Centre.
